Told in reverse chronological order, the story follows composer Franklin Shepard and his two closest friends, lyricist Charley Kringas and writer Mary Flynn, as their lives and relationships unfold backwards in time—from the height of Frank’s Hollywood success to the hopeful days when the trio first dreamed of making it in show business. With Sondheim’s celebrated score featuring songs such as “Old Friends,” “Good Thing Going,” and “Not a Day Goes By,” this powerful musical explores how choices shape our lives and the enduring bonds of friendship.
